So often family members (I am one) get mixed messages:   &quot;detach with love, let them hit bottom on one end&quot; and use of positive reinforcement, listening, motivational interviewing techniques on one end&quot;.  In my opinion, neither one is particularly effective - and depends in part on the degree of influence that the family member has and how often they see their struggling loved one.   I&#039;m looking forward to what you have to say about all of this.....as well as how to balance the balancing/enabling conundrum.]]></description>
